Currency
Brazilian
money is called Real, and it is represented (R$). The official exchange
rate is published daily in the newspapers and your foreign money may be
exchanged either at hotel desks, banks or travel agencies. Many hotels
and shops accept american dollars and international credit cards.

Open
hours for most shops in Brazil are from 9am to 6pm, during the week-days
and from 9am to 01pm on saturday. In the shopping malls, open hours run
from 10am to 10pm during week-days, from 10am to 8pm on saturdays and
sometimes from 10am to 6pm on sundays, to be confirmed according to the
season.
Eletric
Current
In
Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, electric current is 110/120 volts,
60 cycles AC. In Salvador and Manaus, it is 127 volt service. In Recife,
Brasilia and a number of other State capitals service is rendered w ith
220 volt. In most hotels you will be served by an electrical outlet to
adjust your equipment.
